Responsible for managing the business operations of the clinic to include, but not limited to, front desk reception and scheduling, office functions, medical office assistant functions, and overall management responsibilities. Coordinates all office management and business personnel activities in order to ensure efficient patient flow and appropriate staffing. Works effectively with Providers, Administration and Physician Billing Department to ensure efficient office operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two years physician office management experience required. Prior supervisory and billing experience preferred. A minimum of six months clinical/clerical experience in a medical facility desired. Thorough knowledge of computer functions and medical terminology. Ability to read and interpret physicians’ documentation. Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding. Demonstrates leadership qualities and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact tactfully with co-workers, visitors, patients and other staff. Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to veterans, their families, staff, supportive services personnel, funders, and the general public. Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to adapt to change. Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and reliable. Must be results-oriented and exemplify a team player attitude. Must have excellent spelling and grammatical skills. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Must have ability to work independently and have good organizational and communication skills. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
