A Recap of a Presidential Town Hall on Veterans

v_flagLast night, President Barack Obama held a town hall meeting in Fort Lee, Va. The President faced some difficult questions from members of military families. The event aired lived on CNN. Obama explained some of the effort around de-stigmatizing mental health in veterans.

“The first is I have instructed the Joint Chiefs and up and down the chain of command that they have a responsibility to de-stigmatize mental health issues and issues of PTSD and help to explain to everybody in all of the units under their command that there’s nothing weak about asking for help,” Obama said on CNN.com.

The Washington Post recaps a portion of the event where the President indicated that there was still “more to do” in the area of improving veterans care in this country.

The Cohen Veterans Network is here to serve all military families, regardless of discharge status or role in service. Our early results indicate that we are treating the entire military family as intended, with more than 35% of our first 500 clients in our two Texas clinics being non-veteran adults and children.
