This month the central office at the Cohen Veterans Network received a very nice surprise in the mail from the non-profit group Stars For Our Troops. Susan Wells, Founder of the Troy, N.Y. based organization, sent in a letter explaining their program and a large batch of stars.
Stars For Our Troops takes retired U.S. flags that are no longer fit to fly and cuts out the stars to send to veterans who have served our country as a thank you. Included in the package were three hand-written thank you letters from school children. The CVN team appreciates the support as we launch our mission to serve veterans and their families with the care they deserve.
Each star is packaged with a short explanation which reads “I am part of our American flag that has flownover the USA. I can no longer fly. The sun and winds caused me to become tattered and torn. Please carry me as a reminder that You are not forgotten.”
