Moises Lozacruz is the Associate Director of Clinical Operations at The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Valley Cities in Lakewood, Washington. A proud Army veteran and military spouse, Moises served 17 years in both the Army Reserves and Active Duty, completing two combat-filled deployments to Iraq as a Convoy Commander in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006-07 and 2010-11. His wife also served for 24 years, including 2 deployments and retiring at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), Washington. After being medically retired, he pursued higher education to embark on a second career dedicated to serving others. Moises earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development with an emphasis in Counseling from California State University San Marcos. He later obtained a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington. Before joining the Cohen Clinic at Valley Cities, he worked as a Psychology Technician and Clinic Manager at Madigan Army Medical Center. He then served as a Clinician and Court Liaison for a community mental health agency, specializing in Involuntary Treatment Act (ITA) inpatient psychiatric care. In this role, he provided individual and group therapy, and case management services for individuals with severe mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders and served as the primary expert witness in mental health court proceedings. As a cognitive-behavioral and trauma-informed therapist, Moises is passionate about helping individuals develop effective coping strategies to manage daily stressors and process unresolved traumas. His goal is to support individuals on their mental health journey, guiding them toward meaningful change, recovery, improved functioning, and healthier relationships.
