About the Training: In this webinar, Ross Greene, PhD, discusses the clinical application of the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) approach. He describes the Assessment of Lagging Skills and Unsolved Problems (ALSUP) and teaches participants about the three mechanisms (Plans A, B, and C) by which caregivers approach children’s unmet expectations. Participants will learn the details of Plan B and also how to support caregivers with implementing Plan B with children in their care.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:
- Describe the three steps of Plan B and what is accomplished by each
- Describe how to identify lagging skills and unsolved problems in children
- Describe Plans A, B, and C, and what is accomplished by each
Content Level: Intermediate. For an introductory course, begin with our Introduction to Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS), also led by Dr. Ross Greene.
Target Audience: Mental health professionals serving families, children, and/or parents
Duration: This is a recording of a live 3-hour webinar that previously took place on April 18, 2024. The webinar recording is approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes in duration, and participants will also need to complete a short quiz and evaluation survey that will take approximately 10 minutes total.
Earn 3 CEs, accredited by APA & ASWB. Participants who complete this training in its entirety will then be eligible to receive 3 continuing education (CE) credits. In order to receive CEs, participants will need to pass a final quiz with at least an 80% score.
Cost: No cost; training and CEs are free to all learners.

About Our Presenter: Ross Greene, PhD
Ross W. Greene, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and the originator of the innovative, evidence-based approach called Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS), as described in his influential books The Explosive Child, Lost at School, Lost & Found, and Raising Human Beings. He also developed and executive produced the award-winning documentary film The Kids We Lose, released in 2018. Dr. Greene was on the faculty at Harvard Medical School for over 20 years, and is now founding director of the non-profit Lives in the Balance. He is also currently adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech and adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Science at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia.
Dr. Greene has worked with several thousand kids with concerning behaviors and their caregivers, and he and his colleagues have overseen implementation and evaluation of the CPS model in countless schools, inpatient psychiatry units, and residential and juvenile detention facilities, with dramatic effect: significant reductions in recidivism, discipline referrals, detentions, suspensions, and use of restraint and seclusion. Dr. Greene lectures throughout the world and lives in Freeport, Maine.
